Camp Bow Wow signs 200th franchise
BOULDER – Dog day camp and pet boarding company Camp Bow Wow based in Boulder has signed its 200th franchise.
The new franchise will be in Beaufort/Hilton Head, S.C. It is expected to open late next year. Camp Bow Wow already has a presence in South Carolina, with a location in Greenville, and two more are planned in Charleston and Columbia.
Heidi Flammang opened the first Camp Bow Wow in Denver in 2000. The camps now are in 36 states and Canada. They are staffed with certified camp counselors trained in pet first aid, pet CPR and dog behavior.

The camps have one counselor for every 15 dogs, and dogs are separated into play groups based on size and temperament. Little dogs and elderly dogs have a lounge set aside for them to retire to when the action gets to be too much. All camps are equipped with Web-based cameras so pet parents can watch their dogs from home or work computers.
“As we grow, it’s been great to see how many franchisees and their customers share my passion,” Flammang said. “New camps are built with the same simple premise as the first, truly making Camp Bow Wow pet boarding and doggy day camp a place where a dog can be a dog.”
