EPA honors Kinder Morgan for Greeley operation
GREELEY-Kinder Morgan’s Thermo Greeley power plant is the recipient of an Energy Star award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The award is part of the EPA’s combined Heat and Power Partnership, which began in 2000 as a way to recognize companies that have demonstrated leadership in developing efficient power facilities.
Kinder Morgan’s cogeneration plant in Greeley is one of three projects nationwide that met the partnership’s criteria for recognition. The designation will be renewed each year as long as the plant continues to meet the requirements of the program.
“The design of the Greeley plant requires 25 percent less fuel than using a combination of on-site thermal generation and purchased electricity,´ said Paul Steinway, president of Kinder Morgan Power Company in a released statement. “We’re very proud of this award, which also recognizes our contributions to improving air quality.”
