Kaiser gives $400K grant to rural health centers
The grant will provide assistance to 19 rural clinics, located mainly on the Western Slope. Exactly which clinics will benefit is not yet known.
“Our rural health-care providers are caught in the perfect storm,´ said Michelle Mills, Colorado Rural Health Center’s chief executive, in a press statement. “Demand for greater coordinated care, prevention, data and patient outcomes are growing, while budgets are tightening.”

The Healthy Clinic Improvement Program is funded through August 2016. By the end of the project, participating clinics will have made improvements in central operations to enable them to focus more resources of quality improvement, according to a release.
This will be demonstrated by clinics participating in initiatives such as Patient Centered Medical Home, accountable care organizations of Colorado’s Accountable Care Collaborative.
Clinics will also have diversified their services to include resources such as mobile screening units or support groups for chronic illness.
