Greeley-Weld Habitat for Humanity buys permanent HQ in Evans

EVANS — Greeley-Weld Habitat for Humanity has purchased a new, permanent headquarters at 3650 35th Ave. in Evans, marking the first time the organization has owned a single location that houses all operational functions.

The building at 3650 35th Ave. previously housed TBK Bank and Mitchell’s Flooring & Design. TBK Bank, which owned the building, chose Habitat’s offer as a nonprofit organization to align the values and opportunities of both parties.

The $2.5 million purchase of the 13,606-square-foot building on 1.6 acres closed Aug. 21, according to Weld County records.

“We’re pleased that this property will continue to serve the Evans community in such a meaningful way,” Scott Sillers, TBK Bank’s vice president for commercial real estate, said in a prepared statement. “Greeley-Weld Habitat for Humanity does tremendous work across the region, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to work with their team to help make this next chapter for the property possible.”

Founded in 1987, Greeley-Weld Habitat for Humanity has spent nearly four decades building homes across Weld County. The Greeley ReStore opened in 2005, and in March 2022, the organization brought its administrative, construction and retail operations under one roof for the first time at its current Greeley Mall location.

“It was a privilege to help play a part in filling a community need and supporting the Habitat mission,” Nick Berryman of Realtec Greeley, who brokered the deal, said in a prepared statement. “I’m really pleased that this was a win-win situation for both Habitat for Humanity, TBK Bank and the community-focused missions they each pursue.”

Local Habitat CEO Cheri Witt-Brown said the purchase is about more than square footage — it’s a foundation for the organization’s long-term impact.

““Owning this building is essential to becoming a truly self-sustaining organization,” Witt-Brown said in a news release. “Much like homeownership offers a family stability and equity, owning this building strengthens our own foundation and elevates the impact of our work — ultimately elevating the hard-working families in our community with housing solutions that change the trajectory of generations.”

Light construction will reshape the building’s interior into an open unified space.

““It is exciting to look ahead to the improved processes and a more refined ReStore experience at the new location as we continue serving our community as an organization,” Lew Sevestre, ReStore director, said in the news release.

“Operations are expected to move into the new headquarters in the first quarter of 2027. Administrative and Family Services staff anticipate relocating in February, with all operations fully in place by the end of March.
