Xcel plans power shutoff overnight in east Loveland

LOVELAND — Xcel Energy Inc. (Nasdaq: XEL) plans a power shutoff in parts of east Loveland and nearby areas Wednesday night through early Thursday morning, the power company said.

Roughly 2,000 Xcel customers will lose power from about 8 p.m. Wednesday to about 6 a.m. Thursday while another power provider works on a transmission system.

According to a news release from Xcel, “this work is critical to continue providing safe and reliable service for customers throughout the region.”

Areas affected will be the west side of Interstate 25 near Boyd Lake, south of U.S. Highway 34 around the Scheels outdoor retailer in Johnstown, and north of County Road 16, according to the release.

Xcel said customers who will be impacted received an automated call from the company Wednesday notifying them of the outage.

The utility last December and January announced several planned outages around Northern Colorado because of unseasonably warm, dry and windy weather that had the potential to increase the danger of wildfire.
