Union authorizes strike at JBS subsidiary
Members of United Food and Commercial Workers Local 7, the union representing workers at Denver Processing, a wholly owned subsidiary of Greeley-based JBS USA, have voted to authorize a strike over what they say are unfair labor practices.
According to The Denver Post, workers at the plant in Denver process meat products for Kroger stores throughout the Southwest, including King Soopers and City Market stores in Colorado.
JBS spokeswoman Nikki Richardson said in an email the company is disappointed that UFCW Local 7 “has chosen to pursue another strike rather than continue productive discussions at the bargaining table.”
Earlier this month, UFCW Local 7 workers at JBS USA’s Greeley meatpacking plant ratified a new, two-year agreement with the company, days after ending a three-week strike.
