Historic Boulder names new executive director, board president

BOULDER — Historic Boulder Inc. has promoted two board members to leadership positions. Tim Plass, who has served as president of the organization’s board of directors for the past year, will replace Leonard Segel as executive director, and Leslie Durgin will take over as board president.

The changes coincide with the organization’s annual membership meeting, Feb. 26.

Plass “brings a wealth of expertise to this position, having served on the Boulder Historic Preservation Landmarks Advisory Board, the Planning Board and the City Council. He has also participated on the boards of several other environmental and educational organizations,” according to a press release.

“I’m delighted to build on the positive direction that Historic Boulder Inc. has been going, to keep the historic spirit of Boulder alive,” Plass said in a prepared statement. “There is plenty more work to be done because every era in the evolution of Boulder has sites of importance.”

Segel is retiring after effectively serving for three years as the organization’s executive director and after more than a total of 14 years on the Board of Directors.

Replacing Plass as the president of the board of directors is former Boulder mayor Durgin

In addition to serving on the Boulder City Council and as mayor, Durgin has served on numerous boards of state and local nonprofit organizations.

“I’m happy to have returned to one of my very first areas of interest, historic preservation,” Durgin said in a statement.
