Weld County, Colorado Recovery Plan offer job-training funding

WELD COUNTY — Workers in Weld County can receive a leg up with Colorado Recovery Plan funds given to Employment Services of Weld County. The department was granted $1.4 million to fund training, certifications and credentials.

The program is intended for workers who have been financially affected by the ongoing pandemic. Opportunities granted through the program must be completed within 12 months to be eligible for the funds. 

The funds are intended for students, job seekers and currently employed workers to develop their skills and learn new ones. Authorized programs include focuses on agriculture, health care and skilled trades such as auto repair.

Weld County’s Department of Human Services is reaching out not only to workers but employers as well. The increased access to training funds is intended to allow employers to promote workers internally and open new entry-level positions.

“We understand the hardships that the pandemic brought on not only impacted individuals but businesses as well,” Deputy Director of Human Services Tami Grant said in a statement.Specific certifications offered through the program include QuickBooks and ServSafe certifications, as well as the Adobe Suite and internships in education. Applications for the program can be found at the Employment Services of Weld County website.
