McWhinney adds 3 execs, including new CFO

LOVELAND — McWhinney Real Estate Services Inc., with offices in Loveland and Denver, has appointed three new executives, including a chief financial officer.

McWhinney is a real estate investor and developer in commercial, multifamily, hospitality, residential and mixed-use assets.

Derek Evans has been named chief financial officer. He has been charged with guiding McWhinney’s corporate strategy on all financial matters, overseeing key financial relationships and collaborating with the company’s senior leadership team to maintain top financial performance. Evans joins McWhinney from Wells Fargo, where he most recently served as the managing director for the Commercial Real Estate Group. In this role, he led the lending division, providing a broad range of real estate financial products to public real estate investment trusts, private equity funds, private real estate companies and private developers.

“I’ve had the privilege of driving success for a Fortune-50 financial services leader and am eager to carry this same energy forward with the McWhinney executive team,” Evans said in a written statement. “McWhinney is known for creating unprecedented value and opportunity, and I’m committed to contributing to McWhinney’s vision as it continues its growth trajectory in top markets throughout the U.S.”

Krista Sprenger has been hired as senior vice president of commercial and mixed-use development. She brings more than two decades of real estate experience. “She will be responsible for structuring, visioning, entitling, and delivering transformational mixed-use projects,” the company wrote in a press statement. She has held senior leadership positions at Lendlease in Denver, New York and Los Angeles.

Elaine Philis recently joined McWhinney as senior vice president of capital markets. Philis will head equity capital raising and oversee investor relations for McWhinney. During the course of her career, Philis has raised more than $1 billion in equity capital for domestic and international real estate private equity funds, joint ventures and separate accounts from institutional investors, corporate and state pension funds, insurance companies, sovereign wealth funds, endowments and foundations. She previously held capital raising roles with firms including Broadshore Capital Partners, Lend Lease, Westbrook and Tishman Speyer.

“Maintaining a strong senior leadership team is an asset for our organization and project portfolio,” said Ray Pittman, president and CEO at McWhinney. “The combined steady leadership, expertise and strong track record of these new associates will play an integral role in steering McWhinney’s continued growth.”
