Kush Masters expanding in preparation for Boulder County cannabis delivery

BOULDER COUNTY — Kush Masters LLC, a Boulder County-based cannabis-extraction maker, plans a new production facility and dispensary location in the county in hopes of cashing in on the burgeoning marijuana delivery industry.

The company, which has produced extracted products such as wax, shatter and vape cartridges since 2014 and has recently begun to make edibles, operates out of a 1,200-square-foot production space off Arapahoe Avenue east of Boulder.

Kush Masters’ current space has the capacity to put out 60,000 to 70,000 units per month.

The new space, planned nearby at 1779 Valtec Lane, would be 6,000 square feet, and Kush Masters founder Josh Rutherford said he anticipates being able to quadruple production levels.

In addition to added manufacturing space, the new building is planned to include a retail and medical dispensary that will serve as a base of operations for delivery service.

The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the demand for alternatives to in-person dispensary shopping.

Colorado lawmakers began clearing the lane for delivery services last year for medical marijuana patients, and starting in 2021, that’s been expanded to recreational customers.

Boulder, Superior and Longmont have approved delivery options for medical marijuana, and Rutherford said he expects to be able to begin serving the Boulder County recreational market by the end of the year.

“We’re all about good people, good business, good vibes and pushing the industry forward,” Rutherford said.

Kush Masters’ development plan for the new space is set to be reviewed by county planning officials later this month, and Rutherford hopes to open up shop by July.

“We’re looking forward to giving the Boulder County community another option that can give the consumers what they’re looking for,” he said.
