Molina takes reins of BV Women’s Health Center

BOULDER — Cynthia Molina has been named CEO of the Boulder Valley Women’s Health Center located in Boulder.

Molina is a health-care professional and long-time Longmont resident. 

“We are so thrilled to welcome a health-care professional of her caliber,” Gus Spheeris, president of the health center’s board, said in a written statement.  “We believe that with Cynthia’s perspective and expertise, Boulder Valley Women’s Health Center will continue to grow and lead our community in advancing safe and affordable sexual and reproductive health care for all. Especially during this COVID-19 crisis, we know she will navigate these tumultuous times with an experienced and even hand.”

Molina’s professional background is in providing health-care services and practice transformation.  She spent more than six years as clinic operations manager at Clinica Family Health, a federally qualified health center serving more than 9,300 patients. For the past two years, she has worked with HealthTeamWorks, a practice transformation organization that helps medical practices across Colorado and the U.S. improve clinical quality outcomes, patient experience, and provider satisfaction. She has a master’s degree in nonprofit management.

“You can’t go anywhere in life if you don’t have good health,” Molina said. A specific focus, particularly through her work in the Latinx community and on Navajo lands, has been on reducing health disparities and increasing health-care access for marginalized populations. 

“I’ve always been passionate about working with underserved communities, probably because I’m from one,” said Molina, who is a first-generation Mexican immigrant.

Molina came to the U.S. with her family when she was just a baby and grew up in Longmont, where she has lived ever since.   

Molina replaces Susan Buchanan, who retired in December after 18 years with the organization.
