Festival of Lights to kick off Loveland holiday season

LOVELAND — The Loveland Downtown District will host the annual Festival of Lights on Nov. 22 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Fourth Street in the downtown area.

The festival kicks off the holiday season with the lighting of a 25-foot Christmas tree in front of the historic Rialto Theater. The celebration also marks the debut of holiday lighting that will illuminate several blocks of downtown through February 2020.

The community event is free to attend and will feature two stages with live music and dancing. The Xfinity and First National Bank Main Stage will feature the Loveland Choral Society, a traditional tree lighting ceremony at 7:30pm and local musicians Joe Schicke, Franklin Taggart and Vi Wickam. The AIMS Community College Family Stage includes performances by Loveland Classical Schools, Loveland Dance Academy and Lighthouse Dance, plus classic holiday blues music from the Blues Dogs Band.

Santa and Mrs. Claus will make an appearance.

Gifts for the annual Santa Cops of Larimer County distribution — unwrapped toys valued at $30 or less — can be donated that night.
