New warehouse facility and classroom space for eQuilter
BOULDER — eQuilter.com, an international online retailer for the quilting industry, has moved into its new building in the Gunbarrel section of Boulder.
The 23,000-square-foot facility was built by co-owners Luana and Paul Rubin with Quinlan Construction and Ware Malcomb Architecture. eQuilter will occupy 14,000 square feet in the new building, which will include a classroom for national and international teachers and workshops. The new warehouse is located at 6201 Spine Road. The additional space will be leased out to tenants.
“We were excited to partner with eQuilter to design a new facility to enhance their operations and make room for future growth opportunities,” says Matt Chaiken, Principal of Ware Malcomb, in a prepared statement. “The new facility reflects a modern aesthetic, highlighting the strong, creative eQuilter brand.”

eQuilter started in 1999 in the basement of the Rubins’ home and has grown to 120,000 subscribers with 1,000 new products per month. The company is an international online retail destination for quilters and sewers.
In addition to its new space, the company has also been focused on its charity work, including donating about 13,000 quilts to causes like disaster relief and cancer patients. Quilts have recently gone to villages in Nepal hard hit by earthquakes a few years ago and Hurricane Harvey victims. The company also donates 2 percent of its sales to various charities and has donated about $1.5 million so far.
“If we’re successful, we feel it’s our obligation to give back,” Luana Rubins told BizWest. “Quilting is that way anyway, people make them as gifts for people they love and want to comfort and care for.”
