FORT COLLINS — BillGo Inc., a financial-payment system looking to help people pay their bills in real-time, has moved into an expanded Fort Collins office.
The new offices at 3003 E. Harmony Road are part of the company’s larger overall plan of scaling the business and attracting the right talent, CEO Dan Holt told BizWest.
The new space includes a view of Horsetooth Reservoir and Longs Peak and an outdoor deck furnished with astroturf, heaters, corn hole and a barbeque. Inside, the office is decorated to represent Colorado, with barn wood and steel beams, to give visiting clients a feel for the state when they come to visit the location. BillGo also has a large amphitheater-like control room called “Spark,” where employees can collaborate together and easily view large screens with the important information on them.
“From staff level to our high-level people, we want them working together on problem-solving,” Holt said. “Yes, you can problem solve over Slack and email, but it happens on another level when you’re sitting together in person.”
The problems BilGo is trying to solve are big ones. The company is looking to help eliminate people living from paycheck to paycheck, by offering a back-end payment service that banks or walk-in billpays can have. When bills are paid using BillGo, they’re done in real-time or at least same-day, so there isn’t a two- to three-day waiting period. That speed can make a difference in keeping a person’s utilities from being shut off, getting charged a late fee or getting an overdraft fee.
“What we’re doing across the board is our belief that a better payment system can improve lives,” Holt said. “For most people, their lives are centered around bills. The majority are dealing with how to manage their bills, do they have the right information. Across the board, BillGo is giving people better access to a payment system that can make their tomorrow better than today.”
As the company continues to grow, Holt added that it’s looking at acquisition opportunities to expand its payment network.
“We are relentless advancing payment systems through speed that is real-time, to make it more efficient,” he said. “We are doing everything we can to get rid of physical checks in the mail and move through to more efficient networks that happen in real-time.”
