Brick-and-mortar Home Depot wins gas monitoring contract

Home Depot secured the contract with Weld County to provide explosive gas monitors, offering the lowest price among five bidders, according to information presented Monday during a Board of Weld County Commissioners meeting. As reported by the Greeley Tribune, Weld is giving out free gas monitors to people concerned about explosive gases.

The county has given out 450 monitors so far as a result of concerns raised after a house exploded in Firestone in April. The new contract spends $19,000 to buy 500 more.

The local brick-and-mortar store in Greeley beat out the corporate Home Depot website, the First Alert Store in Illinois, Lowes and Amazon to win the bid, the Tribune reported.
