Colorado statewide election results: Minimum wage passes; Colorado Care rejected

Colorado voters on Tuesday overwhelmingly defeated Amendment 69, the measure that aimed to create a statewide health-care system, and solidly approved Amendment 70 to increase the minimum wage for workers in the state.

With 51 of 64 counties reporting, nearly 80 percent of voters had gone against Amendment 69. Amendment 70, meanwhile, got 54 percent of the vote. Amendment 70 will gradually raise the state’s minimum wage from $8.31 per hour to $12 per hour by 2020.

In addition to 70, voters also passed Amendment 71, which, somewhat ironically, makes it more difficult for the state’s constitution to be amended.
