Agilent breaks ground on new manufacturing facility in Frederick

FREDERICK — Construction workers this week broke ground on Agilent Technologies’ previously announced $120 million pharmaceutical manufacturing and laboratory in Frederick, with plans to complete the facility by late next year.

The new 20-acre campus in southwest Weld County initially will consist of a manufacturing building, bulk tank farm and a lab/office building. CRB is leading design and engineering of the facility, while GE Johnson Construction Co. is serving as general contractor and construction manager.

Santa Clara, Calif.-based Agilent announced in August its plans to build the Frederick facility, where it will eventually employ 150 to 200 people. The facility is expected to complement Agilent’s manufacturing operations in Boulder, where the firm’s Nucleic Acids Solutions Division employs about 175 people.

The new facility is being built just northwest of the intersection of Tipple Parkway and Silver Birch Boulevard on land Agilent bought in July for $1.83 million.

Assuming it hits job targets, Agilent will receive about $5.4 million in state and local incentives to locate the new facility in Frederick.
