Broomfield-based Flatiron Construction chosen for C-470 project
BROOMFIELD — A pair of global infrastructure contractors — Flatiron Construction Corp., based in Broomfield, and AECOM (NYSE: ACM), based in Los Angeles — have been selected to design and build the $215 million, 12-mile C-470 tolled express lanes in Denver’s south metro area.
Flatiron Construction and AECOM will form a team that will be led by Flatiron to work with the Colorado Department of Transportation.
The project will add two tolled express lanes on westbound C-470 from Interstate-25 to Colorado Boulevard, one tolled express lane between Colorado and Wadsworth Boulevard on westbound C-470, and one tolled express lane on eastbound C-470 from Wadsworth to Interstate 25, along with reconstruction of a portion of existing pavement.

It also will add auxiliary lanes at selected locations, replace bridges over the South Platte River, widen existing bridges throughout the project area, realign substandard curves, improve portions of on-ramps and off-ramps, install tolling equipment and add noise barriers where required.
Construction of the project is anticipated to begin this summer and is projected to be complete in early 2019.
All vehicles will pay a toll to use the express lanes. Toll amounts have yet to be determined. The high-occupancy vehicle/carpool option will not be available in the C-470 express lanes. Travelers can choose to use the adjacent free general purpose lanes.
