CU names Kercheval executive director of real-estate center

BOULDER – The University of Colorado Boulder’s Leeds School of Business announced on Thursday that Michael Kercheval has been named executive director of the CU Real Estate Center.

Kercheval — past president and current chief executive emeritus of the International Council of Shopping Centers Inc. trade association – replaces Sherman Miller, who died last year of prostate cancer.

The CUREC’s purpose is to develop real estate professionals through undergraduate and graduate programs. The center offers an undergraduate certificate in real estate, a one-year master’s degree in real estate and MBA programs with concentrations in real estate or real estate development management.

Kercheval, a CU grad, was president and CEO of the ICSC from 2000 until last fall. In the 1990s, he was CEO of Lend Lease Latin American Realty Advisors, and prior to that was a real estate investment banker with Equitable Real Estate.

“We are very pleased to have someone of Mike’s caliber with global experience to join our team,” Leeds School dean David Ikenberry said in a release. “We are excited about our future opportunities to grow the program’s reputation nationally and internationally.”
