UCHealth, Adeptus hold ground-breaking ceremony for hospital in Broomfield

BROOMFIELD — UCHealth and Adeptus Health conducted a ground-breaking ceremony Monday for the partnership’s new hospital in Broomfield.

The approximately 80,000-square-foot, three-story UCHealth Broomfield Hospital at 11820 Destination Drive is expected to open in mid-2016 with 22 inpatient beds, with room to expand to 55.

The hospital will have an intensive-care unit, emergency department, operating rooms and a radiology suite with CT scanner, digital X-ray and fluoroscopy.

The hospital is expected to generate 150 new jobs.

Atlanta-based Freese Johnson is the general contractor, and Ascension Architects Group, based in Arlington, Texas, is designer.

UCHealth was created in early 2012 through a joint-operating agreement between Denver-based University of Colorado Hospital and Fort Collins-based Poudre Valley Health System.

UCHealth acquired a majority stake in Texas-based Adeptus Health’s (NYSE: ADPT) freestanding emergency rooms throughout Northern Colorado, Colorado Springs and the Denver metro area in April.

UCHealth continues to amass holdings in the region. UCHealth includes the Colorado Health Medical Group in Loveland, Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland, Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins and University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora, plus Memorial Hospital Central and Memorial Hospital North in Colorado Springs.

UCHealth recently acquired the Longmont Clinic in Longmont, and is building the $100 million Longs Peak Hospital in southeast Longmont.
