SCL Health completes HQ move to Broomfield

BROOMFIELD — SCL Health’s move of its corporate headquarters to Broomfield is complete.

The health system, which operates eight hospitals in Colorado, Kansas and Montana, finished moving some 360 employees from the Diamond Hill office complex in downtown Denver last week. The move brings SCL’s presence in Broomfield to 920 employees, a figure that could grow by as many as 150 in coming years.

SCL began moving corporate functions, including administration, marketing and communications, finance and human resources, in June. The company already had its revenue service center as well as the infrastructure for its SCL Physicians Network in Broomfield. An information-technology operation remains in Lakewood. But the move allowed SCL to consolidate from three office facilities to two.

As Mental Health Awareness Month unfolds in Colorado, it serves as a reminder of the collective responsibility to prioritize mental well-being.

SCL already had 113,839 square feet of space in one building of the Interlocken business park at 500 Eldorado Blvd. It has now added more than 104,000 square feet in a separate building in the park.

SCL spokesman Brian Newsome said Tuesday that several factors played into the move, including the modern facility and proximity to Good Samaritan Medical Center in Lafayette. But he said space was a major factor.

“This is one of the few places that would enable us to consolidate our operations,” Newsome said. “That’s much more of a challenge in the Denver area.”

SCL moved its headquarters from Lenaxa, Kan., to Denver in 2012.

While it operates St. Joseph Hospital in Denver, SCL has a strong presence on the north side of the metro area. In addition to Good Samaritan, the company has a smaller community hospital under construction in Westminster and another that will break ground this month in Northglenn. The company is also in the process of acquiring Platte Valley Medical Center in Brighton.

Two more community hospitals are in the works, meanwhile, in southwest Denver and Aurora.
