BOULDER — Running-shoe designer and manufacturer Newton Running in Boulder said Thursday it has signed a deal to have several of its shoe models sold in Dick’s Sporting Goods stores and on the retailer’s website beginning in May.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Five of Newton’s shoe models — the Gravity IV, Motion IV, Fate, Kismet and Aha — will be available at Dick’s Sporting Goods stores in the East, South Central and Midwest United States.

Solar Operations and Maintenance for Commercial Properties

One key qualification to consider when selecting a solar partner to install your system is whether they have an Operations and Maintenance (O&M) or service department. Since solar is a long-term asset with an expected lifecycle of 30 plus years, ongoing O&M should be considered up front. A trusted O&M partner will maximize your system’s energy output and therefor the return on your investment.

Company spokeswoman Jessica Weidensall said the shoes also will be sold in select stores in Colorado, including Flatiron Crossing in Broomfield and Park Meadows in Denver. It is unclear if they will be sold at the Dick’s Sporting Goods store at Harvest Junction North shopping center in Longmont.

Newton historically has sold its shoes through specialty shops and online. In a prepared statement, the company said its partnership with Dick’s Sporting Goods is a way to expand its presence in the running shoe market, grow its customer base and increase brand awareness.

“We are confident that our presence in Dick’s Sporting Goods stores will create more of an opportunity for runners to ‘feel’ Newton Running, which will lead to broader awareness and increase sales among all of our retailers,” said Jerry Lee, chief executive and co-founder of Newton Running. “We are excited to partner with a great company to offer more shoes to more people.”

As part of the partnership, Newton Running will have a presence at this weekend’s Dick’s Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon showcasing the Newton brand to more than 30,000 runners.

Newton Running, founded in 2007 by Lee and Danny Abshire, has a patented shoe design the company claims to provide full-foot cushioning and lightweight comfort. The company is the official footwear and run course sponsor for the Ironman U.S. Series and the presenting sponsor of the Destination Races Wine Country Half Marathon Series.
