Voters approve Loveland Downtown Development Authority

Loveland voters on Tuesday approved a measure to create a downtown development authority that will be charged with helping to spur revitalization of the area.

The Reporter-Herald reports that the measure passed with 60 percent of ballots cast in favor. Only 24 percent of the 1,125 ballots sent to residents, businesses and property owners in the district were returned.

Loveland’s city council put the measure on the ballot in December and set aside up to $5 million in funding for the authority over 10 years. The Loveland DDA is bounded roughly by 20th Street to the north, southeast Eighth Street to the south, and a few blocks on either side of U.S. Highway 287.
