September sales take slight dip in Longmont

LONGMONT – The city of Longmont on Tuesday reported a 1.2 percent decline year over year in sales- and use-tax revenue from transactions in September.

Collections in October, representing sales in September, were $4,118,484, down from $4,166,626 a year ago.

The sales-tax component increased by 2 percent over the same month a year ago, but the use-tax collections decreased by 7.5 percent.

Year to date, sales tax revenue is up 5.1 percent, and use tax is up 2 percent.

Lodgers’ tax collections for the period were up 26.6 percent, or $35,038 for the month compared with $27,683 for the same month a year ago. Year to date, the lodgers’ tax is up 18.5 percent, $267,110 compared with $225,332 at this time last year.
