State gives $3.1 million for bioscience groups

The state of Colorado on Wednesday announced $3.1 million in grants to support bioscience industry organizations.

The money will be directed to drug discovery and new bioscience businesses, according to the state Office of Economic Development and International Trade.

The money will fund the following organizations:

> The Colorado Institute for Drug, Device and Diagnostic Development, $1,350,000;

> Colorado Center for Drug Discovery, $750,000;

> The Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Colorado, Anschutz Medical Campus, $410,000;

> The BioFrontiers Institute at the University of Colorado at Boulder, $625,000.

The grant program was created by the Colorado Legislature to foster development of the state’s bioscience industry.
