Gov. Hickenlooper at PVH to sign bill into law

FORT COLLINS – Gov. John Hickenlooper will visit Poudre Valley Hospital on Wednesday to sign into law a bill requiring prior authorization for coverage approval requests.

The bill requires the commissioner of insurance to develop a prior authorization process for the purposes of submitting and receiving requests for prior coverage approval of prescription drug benefits by July 31, 2014.

The bill also requires prescribing providers, carrier and pharmacy benefit management firms to follow the authorization process.
