Gas prices rise 15 cents higher than last week

Fort Collins gas prices have risen an average of 17 cents since last week, while prices in Greeley were up 15 cents, AAA said Wednesday.

The average per gallon price was $3.61 for both Fort Collins and Greeley. Along with Boulder and Longmont, those cities recorded the lowest prices of all Colorado cities for which AAA reported gas price averages.

Greeley and Fort Collins gas prices were four cents lower than the state average of $3.65. The state average was 21 cents lower than the national average of $3.86.

At $4.01, Vail had the highest gas price average in Colorado and was the only place in the state tracked by the AAA report as breaking the $4 per gallon gas mark.

Gas in Greeley  cost an average $3.38 at this time last year year; Fort Collins gas cost $3.36.
