Two local homes top luxury list

BOULDER – Two Boulder homes were among the Top 10 luxury homes sold in December in the Denver metro area in terms of price, according to a report from Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage.

The top Boulder home sale was $2.79 million for a 5,956-square foot home at 1710 Sunset St., according to the report from Denver-based Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage in Colorado. The second highest home sale in Boulder in December was $2.225 million for a 5,030-square-foot home at 3737 22nd St. Both homes were sold by Tim Goodacre at Goodacre & Co. LLC in Boulder.

In all, five of the 42 luxury homes sold in December were in the Boulder Valley, according to the report. One other home was in Boulder, one was in Niwot and one was in Broomfield, according to the report.

“Boulder County always fares very well in the metro market,´ said Chris Mygatt, president of the Coldwell Banker firm that did the report. “People that migrate to Boulder or live in Boulder are not quite as price-conscious as other markets. They’re more lifestyle-conscious.”

For example, a Boulder County luxury homebuyer may have homes in Santa Barbara, California, and Miami, as well as in Boulder, Mygatt said.

In general, luxury home prices in the Denver metro area jumped 8 percent in December from the month before, according to the report. The median sale price for a $1 million-plus home reached $1.35 million in December. In November, it was $1,245,000.

Luxury sales figures were derived from the Multiple Listing Service data of all homes sold for more than $1 million in December in the metro area, the report said.
