Laio to step down as CableLabs’s CEO

LOUISVILLE – Paul Laio will step down as chief executive and president of Cable Labs in Louisville when his contract expires next year.

Laio told the nonprofit’s executive committee he will not renew his contract when it expires in December 2012 for personal reasons.

CableLabs will begin a search for Liao’s replacement immediately.

CableLabs, established in 1988, is a consortium of members of the cable television industry that conducts research and development for cable telecommunications technologies and helps its members apply the new technology.

“Although Paul has been with CableLabs for a relatively short period of time, his contributions have been great and include establishing new programs that are helping the industry grow its broadband and commercial businesses, as well as drive cable’s ability to provide services to smart CE devices using IP technology,´ said Glenn Britt, chairman and CEO of Time Warner Cable and chairman of CableLabs’ board of directors.
