Mitchell Block earns LEED Gold
FORT COLLINS – The Mitchell Block, 262 E. Mountain Ave.
in Old Town Fort Collins, has been awarded Gold certification in Leadership in
Energy and Environmental Design by the United States Green Building Council.
The Mitchell Block was completed in 2009 by the Fort
Collins-based Neenan Co. and includes 33,385-square-foot of space in four
stories. It is owned by Bohemian Cos.
In order to achieve LEED Gold, the Mitchell Block
incorporated water reduction strategies, energy efficient equipment and
lighting and enhanced indoor air quality. Ninety-four percent of all
construction debris was diverted from landfills during the building process. In
addition, the building features a 23.8 kilowatts peak solar array on the roof.
