Ticket sales for Albertson medal gala set to close

FORT COLLINS – Aug. 16 is the last day to purchase tickets for the
fourth annual Maury Albertson Medal Gala on Aug. 27 at the Colorado
State University Lory Center Ballroom.

This year’s gala will begin at 6 p.m. and will recognize Judith
Kimerling, an environmental lawyer and activist for Amazonian indigenous
peoples’ rights, who will receive the 2011 Albertson medal. The event
will include dinner, music and a live auction.

All proceeds will benefit Village Earth, a Fort Collins-based
organization focused on helping empower people in developing countries.

The medal is presented in honor of Maury Albertson, a longtime CSU civil
engineering professor who was instrumental in founding the Peace Corps
50 years ago. He also helped found Village Earth in 1993.
