Foreclosure starts down, sales up

BOULDER – The number of foreclosures started in Boulder and Broomfield counties fell during June, but the number of properties sold in foreclosure auctions increased in both counties.

In June, 70 foreclosures were started in Boulder County and 13 were started in Broomfield, according to data compiled by the public trustee’s offices in each county.

In May, 92 foreclosures were initiated in Boulder County and 19 were started in Broomfield.

The numbers of foreclosures initiated in the city of Boulder fell from 26 in May to 18 in June, while in Longmont the number fell from 40 to 30.

In Boulder county, 41 foreclosed properties were auctioned off, up from 30 in May. There were nine foreclosure auctions in Broomfield, up from two in May.
