Boulder Valley jobless rate inches up

BOULDER – The unemployment rate in Boulder and Broomfield counties inched up in May.

The nonseasonally adjusted unemployment rate in Boulder County increased by one-tenth of a percent compared with April, rising to 6.3 percent. The rate for Broomfield County increased by four-tenths of a percent compared with April, rising to 7.9 percent.

The May 2010 unemployment rates for Boulder and Broomfield counties were 6.7 percent and 7.6 percent, respectively.

In Colorado, the unemployment rate decreased by one-tenth of a percent compared with April, to 8.7 percent. The rate was 8.9 percent in May 2010.
