It’s not normal

You may think it is but it isn’t. It is not normal to get home from work, reach for the bottle to relieve the tension of the day, and numb out in front of the television until it is time for bed.

If this describes your weeknight reality you need a work/life makeover. There is life after work. You aren’t supposed to be utterly drained and exhausted at 5 p.m. This is so common that we imagine that it’s normal. It’s not normal. You should leave work with pretty much the same amount of energy that you arrived with in the morning. Make your new normal that you work hard and have enough energy left to play hard too. And for the record, blobbing in front of the boob tube with a beer in one hand and the remote in the other does not constitute play.

What would it take for you to realize a new normal? Summer is a perfect time to figure this out.
