I read a fascinating article in this month’s issue of Bicycling Magazine.
It was a rider profile on Evie Stevens, who went from working as an associate on Wall Street to professional cyclist for Team HTC-Columbia in just two years. Yes, TWO years!
You’d think with that kind of progression she’s been riding her whole life.
Nope.
The first time she’d ever clipped into bike pedals was just two years before she went pro.
Now, I don’t know Evie Stevens, but I’m still going to brag about her as if I do and tell you a story from the article.

Stevens had been racing for just one month when she entered the Green Mountain women’s race in Vermont. The race is set up so the professional and elite cyclists leave five minutes ahead of the amateurs. Well, Stevens had completely left the amateurs behind and had bridged the five-minute gap to catch the pros. On the final climb of the race, some of the best female riders in the country watched Stevens pass them by.
