Intel looks to enter Longmont market

LONGMONT – Intel Corp., which recently said it was teaming up with Micron Technology Inc. to develop new solid-state drive storage technology, has been looking for space and employees in Longmont, sources say.

One local Realtor said the company is looking for about 10,000 square feet in Longmont, but doesn’t have a deal signed, yet.

Officials with hard-disk drive manufacturers Seagate Technology LLC and Western Digital Corp, both with offices in Longmont, said they’ve heard similar news.  Western Digital officials said they know of several Longmont workers in the storage industry who have been approached by Intel.

Intel officials said they do not discuss possible new locations for their offices. They would neither confirm, nor deny the news.

Intel has a software development office in Fort Collins, and is in the process of shutting down its location in Colorado Springs.
