Guild develops speakers bureau to spread green-building word

BOULDER – The Boulder Green Building Guild has set up the BGBG Speakers Bureau – a group of speakers that will educate businesses, individuals and schools about green buildings and their environmental ramifications.

The guild has eight speakers who are trained to give 25 different presentations. People interested can pick and choose from a list on the guild’s Web site at www.bgbg.com.

“This is a new thing that has come up. We’ve got so many great speakers in our organization, and I think we are in a great position with the speakers we have for our presentations,´ said Kim Master, executive director of the guild and one of its speakers.

Schools in the area including the University of Colorado at Boulder and several private high schools have inquired about the speakers program. Master hopes guild speakers will talk to schools all around Boulder County.

“We would love to get into schools with their curriculum, but it’s a little bit difficult with public schools because their curriculum is set in stone these days, so it’s been easier for us to approach private schools,” Master said.

All speakers will be set up on an appointment basis. Master said the guild has not considered charging for speaking time but may look into it in the future.

“It could be, but we haven’t gotten to that point, yet. It would be great to draw some revenue from this.” Master said.
