Woodward HQ moves to Fort Collins

FORT COLLINS – Woodward Governor Co. will begin 2007 by becoming officially headquartered in Fort Collins.

The giant energy control company (Nasdaq: WGOV) announced today that it would move its headquarters from Rockford, Ill.

“Today, the Colorado site is the location of a number of our senior executives who have the primary responsibility for the majority of our global business activities,´ said Woodward President and CEO Thomas Gendron. “In the past several months, we have relocated a few key leaders and functions to Colorado, which we believe has improved communication and realized efficiencies.”

Platte River must prepare for the retirement of 431 megawatts (MW) of dispatchable, coal-fired generation by the end of the decade and address more frequent extreme weather events that can bring dark calms (periods when there is no sun or wind).

Woodward operates a facility in Fort Collins and one in Loveland, with a combined work force of 1,100 members.

Gendron added that the headquarters move will have “minimal impact on our employment and community support in Rockford.”

Gendron, an eight-year Fort Collins resident, was named president and CEO of the company in July 2005. Also in 2005, Woodward CFO Robert Weber moved from Rockford to Fort Collins, sparking rumors that a headquarters move would soon follow.

In a Business Report interview in September 2005, Gendron indicated that Woodward’s home would remain in Rockford, where it was founded 135 years ago.

“If you’re asking if Woodward’s long-standing, traditional headquarters presence in Rockford is going to change, the answer is no,” Gendron said at the time.

Woodward shares were at $38.08 in afternoon trading, up 34 cents from the opening bell.
