Meals on Wheels christens newly remodeled kitchen

BOULDER – After three months of construction, Meals on Wheels of Boulder celebrated the grant reopening of its kitchen Tuesday, Sept. 19.

The $525,000 remodel, which included reorganizing the existing space to make it more efficient, adding new ovens, refrigerators and freezers, pantries, a new dishwasher and other equipment, was part of Meals on Wheels 20-year lease agreement with the city of Boulder on the kitchen facilities at the West Senior Center at 909 Arapahoe Ave.

Meals on Wheels serves Boulder residents of any age or income level who need a daily hot meal. It serves young and old with disabilities, those convalescing from an accident or illness or those just out of the hospital.
Meals on Wheels delivered 51,000 meals in 2005, and is expected to serve 125,000 meals a year by 2020.
