Eaton-based cooperative comes of age at 100
EATON – It was appropriate last month when Agland Inc. held its annual meeting and banquet that the guest speaker was Olympic gold medal-winning wrestler Rulon Gardner.
Agland, now in its 100th fiscal year, has recently wrestled its way clear of some rugged market conditions.
Consequently, Agland is a company that’s aging well. Having endured from its startup days as a potato-farmers cooperative established in 1905, Eaton-based Agland now appears fit and trim.
At the annual meeting, Agland officials reported 12.4 percent top line growth after taxes, with sales totaling $83.6 million. The company also netted a tenfold increase in income for 2005,…
