Broomfield group filling niche for Spanish-language movies
BROOMFIELD — When he had a visiting friend who wanted to see a newly released Spanish movie, Jared Polis was surprised that there weren’t any Spanish-language movie theaters in the Denver metro area.
“I was even more surprised when I looked into other cities and found that there were no multiscreen first-run Spanish movie theaters anywhere in the United States.”
Recognizing that there was a niche to be filled, Polis founded Broomfield-based Sonora Entertainment Group and opened the area’s first Latino Cinema in 2001 in Aurora.
