Banks use new lures to attract customers

Rewarding customers with merchandise has a new twist at Bank One. The bank is borrowing a page from credit card rewards programs with its own version.

While banks used to give away products like toasters, they are looking at different ways of rewarding new and current customers. At Bank One, customers opening a new account are eligible to receive vouchers for merchandise from Pier 1 Imports. Depending on the size of the account, the reward ranges in value from $10 to $200.
