Veeco cuts jobs

Veeco Instruments Inc. (Nasdaq: VECO), parent company of Veeco Ion Tech in Fort Collins, will cut jobs across most of its locations in the United States, Europe and Asia. Employees at the local facility are already receiving dismissal notifications, a company spokeswoman said. She would not reveal the extent of the cuts, locally or globally.

Veeco Instruments designs, manufactures, markets and services equipment used by manufacturers in the data storage, optical telecommunications and semiconductor industries. It employs nearly1,500 people worldwide, about 200 of them in Fort Collins.
