La Estrellita shines as Brighton eatery

BRIGHTON — La Estrellita (The Little Star) is one of those unassuming community restaurants that caters mostly to locals but really rewards outsiders willing to go a little bit out of their way.

The ambience is informal and welcoming. The understated decor includes chile ristras hanging over the half-wall that divides the two parts of the dining room and red-chile Christmas lights strung cross-wise below the ceiling.
Hand-painted murals with both abstract motifs and lifelike representations of ristras and cobs of blue corn decorate the walls and the sturdy wooden pillars.

Christopher Wood is editor and publisher of BizWest, a regional business journal covering Boulder, Broomfield, Larimer and Weld counties. Wood co-founded the Northern Colorado Business Report in 1995 and served as publisher of the Boulder County Business Report until the two publications were merged to form BizWest in 2014. From 1990 to 1995, Wood served as reporter and managing editor of the Denver Business Journal. He is a Marine Corps veteran and a graduate of the University of Colorado Boulder.
