Odell to release porter brewed with Colorado grapes

FORT COLLINS — Odell Brewing Co. will soon release a new brew that combines two long-competing types of libations: beer and wine.

Fort Collins’ second-largest brewery on Feb. 9 will release Amuste, an imperial porter brewed with Tempranillo grapes grown on Colorado’s Western Slope and aged in red wine barrels.

Odell is no stranger to aging its beers in barrels originally used for other spirits. Many of the company’s sour beers are aged in whiskey barrels before they are tapped and served to the public.

Amuste is the product of a two-year effort by Eli Kolodny, quality assurance and quality control manager for Odell.

The brewery plans to hold a release party for Amuste in its tap room, located at 800 E. Lincoln in Fort Collins.
