Downtown fixtures in Colorado Springs receive face-lifts
Four Poor Richard’s businesses that have become fixtures in downtown Colorado Springs are receiving face-lifts, The Colorado Springs Gazette reports.
Construction will bring new signage, awnings and stucco to the complex at the 300 block of North Tejon Street that houses Poor Richard’s Bookstore, the first of the Poor Richard’s stores, opened in 1975. Poor Richard’s Restaurant, formerly called Poor Richard’s Feed and Read, opened in 1977. Little Richard’s Toystore started in 1995, and Rico’s Café and Wine Bar opened in 2005.
The Downtown Development Authority contributed $25,000 to the project, said the organization’s executive director, Susan Edmondson. The DDA provides enhancement grants to help businesses pay for projects such as the one Poor Richard’s is undertaking.
