Denver mayor proposing condo-defects ordinance for city

Mayor Michael Hancock is proposing an ordinance that would reform construction-defects rules in the city of Denver.

Specific aspects of the measure have yet to come to light, the Denver Business Journal reports. But officials expect the Denver rules, which would specifically govern condominium building, to be stronger than those enacted by other cities in Colorado like Lakewood and Aurora.

Multiple efforts to pass such a bill at the state level have failed in recent years as legislators tried to make it more difficult for groups of homeowners to file class-action lawsuits against builders.
