Shutkin created ‘Wilderness City’ concept
BOULDER — William Shutkin, a local sustainability author, educator and social entrepreneur, introduced the idea that has taken the lead for the redevelopment of the area in downtown Boulder that previously was home to the Camera newspaper.
Karlin Real Estate purchased the property in 2010 for $9 million and is developing the area as EleventhandPearl, using Shutkin’s ‘Wilderness City’ concept.
Earlier this year, Karlin appointed a team of five — two architects, a commercial Realtor, a company representative and a public relations professional — to combine community input with design ideas.
