Moratelli joins Sunflower Bank team in Boulder

BOULDER — Banker Susan Moratelli has been named commercial relationship manager for Sunflower Bank’s new branch in Boulder.

Moratelli most recently was community bank president of ANB Bank’s operation in Boulder for nearly three years and prior to that was vice president/senior industry specialist for Wells Fargo Bank for about nine years.

Earlier this year, Kansas-based Sunflower Bank opened a branch at 1738 Pearl St. It is the bank’s second branch in the Boulder Valley. It operates a branch in Longmont at 25 East Ken Pratt Blvd., just east of the Harvest Junction South shopping center. It also has branches in Denver, Monte Vista, Pueblo, Canon City and Greenwood Village in addition to Kansas and Missouri.

In preparation for Republic Services becoming the primary provider of residential recycling, yard trimmings, and trash, residents should now select the best cart size and service schedule for their household needs.

Moratelli, whose first day with Sunflower was Sept. 15, will be working with commercial clients to build the branch’s deposits and loans, she said Friday.

“This is an exciting opportunity to reunite with some of my former Wells Fargo colleagues, and to help Sunflower, an established bank, enter the Boulder market,” she said.

Founded in 1892 in Salina, Kan., Sunflower is a $1.7 billion community bank. It provides commercial and treasury services, wealth management and mortgage loans. It is family-owned by the six children of H.D. “Joe” Hale and Joyce Vanier Hale, with Mollie Hale Carter currently serving as bank president and chief executive.

Kelso Kelly, regional president for ANB Bank, said he is still searching to find a replacement for Moratelli.
