Weld Trust awards $3.6M to support health, education in Weld County

GREELEY — The Weld Trust has awarded $3.6 million in 29 grants to Weld County area nonprofits, the least of three grant cycles this year.

“This latest round of grants awarded included five proactive grants,” Jeff Carlson, the Weld Trust’s CEO, said in a news release. “These proactive grants address a specific community issue identified by staff through collaborative discussions.

“We are intentionally identifying projects involving community challenges that closely align with our mission-focused work for organizations working together to deliver the greatest impact.”

The five proactive grants made up more than $2.1 million of the $3.6 million awarded during this grant cycle, the release stated. The proactive grants identified were:

  • $1.478 million to Catholic Charities Northern Colorado.
  • $290,000 to North Range Behavioral Health.
  • $165,000 to Weld Re-1 School District in Gilcrest.
  • $162,810 to Weld Re-8 School District in Fort Lupton.
  • $80,000 to Weld Re-5J School District in Johnstown/Milliken.

The remaining $1.5 million in grants went to 60+ Ride, A Woman’s Place, Balon USA, Centennial BOCES, First Responder Trauma Services, Freedom Revived, FYR Mindset Reps, Life Stories Child & Family Advocacy, North Range Behavioral Health, Qualified Listeners Corp., Second Wind Fund Inc., Soccer Without Borders, Coal Creek Meals On Wheels, Project Angel Heart, YMCA of Northern Colorado, Colorado Humanities, Junior Achievement Rocky Mountain, Respite Care Inc., United Way of Weld County, Dayspring Christian Academy, Project Self-Sufficiency, and Weld County School District RE-5J.
